Frogner
Frogner, then. The neighbourhood where Oslo perhaps comes closest to Vienna, or other grand European cities. It’s green, it’s quiet, there are wide streets and history in so many walls.
Start your Lysløypa day with yoga or pilates at Glød Yoga & Pilates on Parkveien, the green oasis with glowing pink walls. Next, head to Hakone on Bogstadveien for Japanese-inspired coffee – try a mango matcha latte, it really hits the spot. Need a break from it all? Stop by Floating Oslo and let your body float weightlessly for an hour – nobody can disturb you in there. Craving something sweet afterwards? Oslo Raw serves vegan raw cakes you could happily eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Continue the day out on Tjuvholmen at the Astrup Fearnley Museet. And then it’s time for dinner! Visit Indian Street Food & Co on Frognerveien, the place for proper Indian street food flavours. Doesn’t that sound like a PERFECT day?

But there’s more we love about this neighbourhood: this is the district with Frognerparken, beloved by every Oslo resident, and just across the street the Vigeland Mausoleum (a hidden gem you really should experience!). Here you’ll find small parks, where we picture stylishly dressed older couples walking their dogs and reminiscing about the old days. Here you’ll find Vestkanttorvet (yep, the square with a capital V), with a market once a week where you might find beautiful Norwegian porcelain, leather boots and unsigned art. More recently, Sommerro has opened, where Vestkantbadet has been reborn in a new guise. Book a table for their epic breakfast spread, bring that ever-present swimsuit here too, and swim a little in vintage design, existing somewhere between 1920 and 2025 on the very same day.
