30% off food for max 2 people

Text: Nora K. Sæter

When this book goes to print, there are only a couple of months left until I visit India for the first time. I totally get it if you're jealous. Because who doesn't dream of wandering the streets of Mumbai, soaking up the flavours, smells, life and the unknown? I certainly do!

In the meantime, I spend most of my time at Indian Street Food & Co to shorten the wait. (For legal reasons: I'm not actually there all the time, this is a figure of speech meant to make you want to go to this restaurant, which by the way can be found both at Sørengkaia and in Frogner.)

Whether you eat in or take the food home, this is a place that takes flavour seriously – the spice blends are composed with a conscious sense of what actually belongs in Indian street food, not a watered-down Norwegian version of it. Set aside plenty of time, because it's easy to end up ordering “just a little more”.

The name may say street food, but the plating screams fine dining and top quality, whether it's the samosas, the kathi rolls, the butter chicken or the grilled prawns. With sustainability, modern flavours and tradition at its core, I might as well cancel my trip and we can all go here instead!
