NEONGRUT

In 2019, three friends, Anton, Adil, and Julian, built a coffee truck with the coolest name in the world: Neongrut. They had no problem driving 6000
km round trip to Naples to fetch the old Piaggio Ape, which they eventually
transformed into the most beautiful coffee truck you've probably ever seen. But
their dream was always to have a permanent location where they could unfold
their passion.

And that dream came true! They got their own space, where they have even expanded to the adjacent premises! Here, they have a coffee bar during the day and a cocktail and wine bar in the evenings. And your four-legged friend
(and many other kinds of animals) are very welcome too!

I kafeen til Handbakt i Oslo med utsikt til deres bakgård med uteservering

HÅNDBAKT

Håndbakt is a bakery and wine bar in one, where you'll feel like staying and hanging out for a long time! The atmosphere is cozy, bubbly, and
warm. Also for your dog, who can join you!

Here, plant-based, organic, and biodynamic ingredients are a given. Håndbakt is owned and operated by Jenny Marie El-Kadiri Andersen, who is passionate about food - not only from a sustainability perspective but also in terms of taste and quality.

With a Danish and Algerian background, she brings exciting dishes to the menu. Jenny wants to break the many myths that plant-based baking doesn't taste good. Because it is indeed possible to create the most delicious plant-based dishes, that are better for the stomach, heart, and soul.

They strive to be sustainable in every aspect, including organic and locally sourced products, as well as focusing on the well-being of their staff
and work environment. We applaud them!

Stop by and enjoy!

Kuro oslo med koselig interiør, planter og gjester

KURO

Kuro is in top form these days. Kuro is featured in Dutch Vogue and is described as minimalism at its best. Kuro is a remedy for bad days and low spirits, and if you stop by Rathkes gate 9, you can be a part of what's happening in this green-painted building. Their coffee comes from Kokko Coffee Roasters in Stavanger – a group of really talented people who know their coffee.

Regardless. With good coffee on the shelves, you're already in a good place, but with skilled baristas at the helm, you get fireworks throughout your body. And when you, a dog lover, can have your furry friend with you at the cafe instead of leaving them at home – well, that's just delightful!

KAFE NAUSTET

Kafé Naustet is part of the magical world that SALT has created down by the Opera House. The little Naustet is built from driftwood and other items found along the shore, furnished with retro furniture, lots of charm, and old souvenirs on the walls. Enjoy food from the stalls at SALT, buy drinks at the bar at Naustet, take a sauna, or attend a concert or theater performance from one of the multiple stages. SALT has become a unique institution in Oslo, and we love that you can bring your dog in here as well.

Supreme Roastworks på gateplan med to store vinduer og Supreme Roastworks Logo

SUPREME ROASTWORKS

Norwegians drink an average of three cups of coffee each day. It's great that someone in the city makes really good coffee. That's what they do at Supreme Roastworks. Seriously good. They have world champions in coffee brewing among them.

The team behind Supreme has been roasting coffee beans for cafes and restaurants for years, but fortunately, they also have their own cafe - even two of them! One in Løkka and one at Aker Brygge. And by the way, the one in Løkka also has its own roastery, so you can probably sneak a peek at how they roast the perfect bean. We promise you seriously good coffee and seriously skilled people at the helm. And a water bowl for your dog!

Koselig interiør med barstoler, blått gulv, kaffemaskin hos Java som driver med baristakunst i Ullevålsveien i Oslo

JAVA ESPRESSOBAR

A couple of years after Java opened its doors in 1997, I (Christina, Lysløypa’s editor) was introduced to Java by my boyfriend at the time. He was a bit older than her, lived a few meters down the street, and every weekend, we would have our morning coffee there, in a space that was half the size of today's. I was 18-19 and was introduced to café-life and world-class barista art. It felt exotic, urban.
The relationship eventually came to an end, but my love for café-life and Java would endure. Except for some years abroad, I haven’t lived far from Java; where meetings are held, thoughts are pondered, ideas are mulled over, and texts like this one are written. Where morning dates with my husband are enjoyed, Gladbakst for the children is purchased, and where the manager Dina (and several others behind the counter) knows my coffee, pats my dog, and knows my - and most importantly my dog Emmy’s - name. Oh, Java!

Kruttverket som ligger ved alnaelva i Oslo med gjester i kafeen

KRUTTVERKET

Since the 18th century, the old factory by the Alna River has been used as a smallholding, gunpowder mill, planing mill, horseshoe nail factory (!), and paint factory.

Then it stood empty. For a long time. And houses should not be empty.

Fortunately, the team behind Kroloftet took action, and now you can enjoy music, dance, a neighborhood pub, café, art, and unexpected pop-ups at Kruttverket. Did you know that most of the interior is recycled? And that the tableware they use is made by local youth? And that efforts are being made to create a sense of belonging and identity to the neighborhood and the heritage carried by the Alna River?

At Kruttverket, there is also a sauna (you get 2 for 1 with Lysløypa), and there's suddenly a new friend around the corner, and the pastries are fresh, and the city is full of possibilities, and your dog is welcome! Halleluja!

Kumi med en gjest som sitter på trebenker av spiler og veggplanter og taklamper som former et skandinavisk interiør

KUMI

Kumi offers the people of Oslo a fantastic vegetarian, vegan, and organic alternative. Kumi is located on Schweigaardsgate, just below where Beate's aunt used to feed the pigeons.

The bright and stylish interior gives the place a somewhat continental feel. The food and drinks are organic and green. Throughout the day, you can enjoy breakfast, brunch, and lunch while watching the world go by and giving your body what it craves: healthy, delicious food.

At Kumi, they want people to care. About themselves, animal welfare, and the environment. All take-away packaging is biodegradable, and they even have a bottle and glass return system! The food is made from fresh ingredients, without additives, refined sugar, or chemicals. Better for you, better for the planet, and really good for your stomach.
As they say – eat like you care! And hey – yes you can bring your dog here too!

Tre personer i lokalene til Cousins bak en skillevegg med store rosa fliser

COUSINS

Family brunch without heated arguments around the table? Sandwich Brothers and Sorbet Sisters have been producing organic ice cream since their establishment in 2016. In 2023, they changed their name and expanded the family - now they invite you to Oslo's best family gathering on the third floor of Glasmagasinet!

A dog at a mall? Wll yes, the owner of Cousins insists! So bring your furry beauty and head to what is a café, bakery, and ice cream factory, as well as social entrepreneurs who "sandwich" new Norwegians into the workforce.

Behind the concept, you'll find young people with backgrounds from countries such as Syria, Somalia, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Ethiopia, all working towards the same goal: a more diverse and inclusive local community. Here you can enjoy food, soda, coffee, and ice cream - it's a tasty integration. Relax in delightful surroundings and treat your taste buds with organic soda made from fruits and berries sourced from farms around Oslo, delicious sandwiches and salads made from locally-sourced ingredients, or simply a sandwich or popsicle on the go. Welcome home, dog and human!

I butikken til dapper i oslo med lag av klær, sko og tilbehør

DAPPER

Dapper started in 2013 with three buddies, a handful of nails, and some planks but has now grown to be a place recommended by publications like Monocle, The Guardian, and The New York Times, among others. Quite amazing, really. The store is known for two things: 1) handpicked brands for those who are tired of buying shoes at the mall and shaving foam at the grocery store, and 2) an experienced team that actually knows what the shirt is made of and is eager to find the right fit for you.

The store has moved to new premises in one of the world's few solid wood buildings, just across the street from the old store. There, they also serve really good coffee, with skilled baristas who make café time one of the finest experiences city life has to offer. Dapper also hosts concerts, has a great wine bar, and spontaneous events. Dapper is here to stay and is making a significant mark on Oslo's coffee scene as well.

Enjoy your coffee, and bring your four-legged friend!
