    Text: Nora K. Sæter

Along the road at Galgeberg lies a gas station that has become a trendy and cool coffee bar. What used to be next door to the mechanics' smoking room from the auto repair shop is Oslo's smallest coffee kiosk! The icing on the cake is that it is located in a little gem of a building, designed by architect Paul Hoel in 1935.

This independent spot works with independent suppliers, often from the local area, and has become a gathering place for all of Vålerenga, with no less than 56 co-owners from the neighborhood. In just eleven square meters, they serve baked goods and coffee brewed from locally roasted beans by Jacu and other local roasteries. It’s a queer-friendly, family-friendly, and dog-friendly space that feels warm and safe for everyone. There's a lot of heart here – they host plant markets, concerts, bike repair workshops - often the proceeds go to emergency aid in Gaza.

Pump coffee, not gasoline. Coffee is the black gold!
