These Wheelchair-Friendly Cafés in Oslo Are Featured in Lysløypa 2026 — PART 2

We’ve created an overview of the wheelchair-friendly places featured in Lysløypa 2026! Three cheers for universal accessibility — here are the spots you can roll right in:

Disclaimer:

Before we begin, we’d like to add a small caveat. From our friends who use wheelchairs, we’ve learned that there are many different interpretations of what “accessible for people with disabilities” actually means. Some places you can roll straight in, some have a ramp but no wheelchair-accessible restroom, and so on. Because of this, this guide won’t be completely watertight. Even if it’s difficult to create a guide with an official “stamp of approval,” that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try. Please welcome our attempt ❤️

Grød

What happens when you combine porridge with bold energy and nerdy curiosity? That was Lasse’s mission when he opened Denmark’s first porridge bar in 2011: to redefine what porridge can be — and to show Danes that porridge can taste absolutely incredible.

Rooted in Nordic traditions and inspired by flavors from around the world, Grød serves porridge for every meal of the day in their cozy porridge bars. In 2024, they opened their first Norwegian location — at the bottom of Grünerløkka.

Using organic, local, and seasonal ingredients as their foundation, Grød serves both sweet and savory porridges, as well as oat waffles, açaí bowls, hoisin kale salad, risotto dishes, and more. They aim for 0% food waste — meaning, for example, that today’s oat porridge might become tomorrow’s oat waffle.

They also host monthly “social runs,” where people jog together and then share a bowl of porridge afterward. Because this is about more than just porridge — it’s about bold energy and love between the lines.

Kaffe Lykke

At Dælenenga, just a stone’s throw from Rodeløkka, you’ll find a fairly ordinary — yet wonderfully uncommon — café.

Kaffe Lykke is not only a heartwarming neighborhood café, but also a work-training initiative for young adults. The goal is to help as many people as possible transition into regular employment, guided by the belief that everyone has something to contribute and deserves a chance. We agree.

With thoughtful guidance from Eivind and Vibeke, who run the café, guests are served delicious homemade lunches, sandwiches, cakes, and coffee — all at friendly prices. As a small bonus (for early birds), they’re open from 8 AM Monday to Friday. From 11:00 to 13:30, they serve a daily hot lunch, with the weekly menu posted on social media at the beginning of each week. And yes — the prices are good, too.

Eivind and Vibeke are proud to be bridge-builders for many people entering working life. That’s something we truly need.

Evita Espressobar

When a café calls itself Espressobar with a capital E, you know it’s one of a kind.

Evita has been part of Oslo’s cityscape for many years — and for good reason. Over the years, they’ve served quality coffee, raw cakes, coffee equipment, small dishes, and a truly lovely atmosphere. The walls whisper echoes of the 70s, with shades of orange, yellow, and brown. (That alone is worth the visit.)

Elisabeth Toth started Evita 28 years ago. Back then, going to a café was still a relatively unfamiliar concept — people were more used to having alcohol with their cigar than espresso in a cup. She created a warm and diverse environment where you can come alone, meet new people, and become part of a community.

We cheer for places that stand the test of time in this city — and we hope to see Evita around for 28+ more years.

Hakone Coffee

At Hakone Coffee, you can experience a taste of Japan right in the middle of Oslo. Inspired by Japanese coffee culture and named after the town of Hakone — known for its hot springs, breathtaking surroundings, and views of Mount Fuji — this café is your very own warm spring of Japanese aesthetics and world-class coffee.

You can choose coffee from more than ten roasteries, several of them ranked among the best in the world.

Maybe you’ll get hooked on their strawberry hōjicha latte (made with the exclusive Japanese tea variety hōjicha)? Or perhaps a mango matcha latte? The level here is high — and the menu is filled with playful, varied, and beautifully crafted drinks.

The owners are committed to minimizing their environmental footprint, and some of the furniture is even made from recycled coffee waste. We love that.

Enjoy your coffee!!

Or as they would say in Japanese: コーヒーをお楽しみください (Kōhī o o-tanoshimi kudasai).

Lille Betong

Concrete can be cold and hard — but right in the heart of Oslo, there’s a little piece of concrete that’s anything but. Lille Betong is the laid-back little sister of big brother Betong: slightly mischievous, very charming, and always ready with coffee, pastries, and a cozy place to land.

During the day, the counter fills with freshly baked goods that make passersby stop in the doorway, and cups are filled with warm, high-quality coffee. They’re especially famous for their skoleboller (Norwegian custard buns), which have had lines winding out into the street. And we’re not talking about the kind you remember from the school cafeteria — these are soft, edible works of art in ever-changing variations.

In the evening, Lille Betong turns down the coffee and turns up the mood. Then you can settle in with a good glass of wine and small dishes from big brother Betong, whether you go for the set menu or à la carte.

A little breathing space in concrete, in other words.
