I’ll teach you a term in the West African language Wolof: Njokobok!

"You are welcome, let us share" is what it means in the native language of chef and restaurant owner Youssou Diop from Senegal. I have personally had a meal or two of fresh fish and rice in Senegal, and felt the true meaning of "njokobok." And it warms the heart deeply, for a long time.

The restaurant is part of the Njokobok project, which is a social collaboration between Diop and artist and architect Apolonija Šušteršič. This collaboration has led to Njokobok Community, a volunteer organization that hosts neighborhood dinners on mondays – where you share a meal with new people and pay what you can. We love it!

At Njokobok, you get generous portions: grilled meat or fish, rice dishes, and a dessert, as well as Diop's homemade juices. You might have to wait a bit for the food, but sometimes that's when magic happens, while you wait!
