I would argue that how Oslo is surrounded by forest (or “marka” as we call it), and how accessible it is, is one of the most unique and fantastic things about Oslo! In “marka” you’ll find hiking trails and in winter: cross country ski trails! Many of them are lit up, and referred to as “lysløypa” (!); light trail! 

In Nordmarka you’ll find Kikutstua, a gem! On cross country skis it’s about 30 kilometers from Sognsvann, a bit shorter from Frognerseteren. The trip can be demanding (we know!) but the REWARD awaits!
